What is Trad Fest?

As a compliment to our Bishop event which is primarily bouldering and sport climbing with a little trad climbing, our North Conway event will be primarily trad climbing with some bouldering and top roping. TRAD FEST IS GONNA BE A RAD FEST!!!!

The kid sibling to our flagship Flash Foxy Climbing Festival in Bishop, Trad Fest is a three-day climbing event for women and genderqueer climbers - including trans and gender non-conforming folks - of all ages with rotating locations every 3-5 years. We hope that the Flash Foxy Trad Fest will not only reach experienced climbers but also provide a safe space for beginner climbers to come and learn more about all this sport and community has to offer! While this event will focus on trad climbing (aka traditional climbing), there will also be opportunities for top roping and bouldering!

We held this festival in Chattanooga from 2017 to 2019 and while we loved putting on the festival in Tennessee, we decided to switch locations for a variety of reasons including anti-trans legislation against gender-affirming care, bathroom access, and youth transgender athletes. Additionally, we hope that moving our location every few years will allow new folks to attend the fest and grow our community!

Flash Foxy Trad Fest welcomes women and genderqueer climbers to join us at this event. Our goal is to create and maintain a safe and diverse space where consent and respect are our first priorities. Harassment of any kind (unwanted contact, verbal or physical abuse, racism, homophobia, transphobia, body-shaming, etc.) will NOT be tolerated and will lead to being asked to leave.

Where is North Conway!?

A village set amid mountains and forest, North Conway is located in the Mount Washington Valley (aka MWV) in eastern New Hampshire and acts as a jumping-off point for outdoor adventure in the White Mountains. It’s a trad climbers’ paradise offering spectacular granite routes from beginner to expert PLUS a solid stash of fresh boulder problems and some adventurous sport climbs to keep all styles of climber engaged!
