My time at Flash Foxy Mini Fest in Kentucky ended up being exactly what I needed. I came into the weekend in a pretty tough mental space because of some unexpected life changes, and I wasn’t totally sure how I would feel being there. But once I arrived, I felt myself start to relax.

On Friday, I joined femmes and thems' climbing and crafts meetup, and on Saturday, I participated in the self-rescue clinic. I really appreciated the chance to learn, ask questions, and connect with other climbers in such a supportive space. The clinic helped me feel more confident, but what stood out even more was how encouraging everyone was. People were so willing to share knowledge, support each other, and celebrate each person’s climbing journey.

Some of my favorite moments were the activities outside of climbing, too, like yoga, arts and crafts, the Q&A panel, and learning how to square dance. It was fun to move, laugh, try something new, and be present with the people around me.

I’m leaving the weekend feeling really grateful for the community I found at the festival. Flash Foxy Mini Fest reminded me how powerful it can be to be surrounded by people who make you feel welcomed, supported, and seen. For me, this weekend was not just about climbing. It was about connection, community, and leaving with a lighter heart than I came in with.
